Simulation Courses

Simulation courses provide substantial experience in the practice of law not involving an actual client. These courses “simulate” the experience of a lawyer advising or representing a client or engaging in other lawyering tasks.

  • Advanced Persuasive Writing (2 credits)
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution (3 credits)
  • Civil Pretrial Litigation (3 credits)
  • Competitions (Moot Court only) (1 credit—may be repeated up to 3 times)
  • Corporate Drafting (2 credits)
  • Experiencing Public Health Law (3 credits)
  • Evidence Lab (2 credits)
  • Human Rights Practicum (3 credits)
  • Intermediate Legal Writing: Introduction to Drafting (2 credits)
  • Interviewing, Counseling & Negotiation (3 credits)
  • Litigation Skills (3 credits)
  • Representing the Criminally Accused (2 credits)
  • Supreme Court Theory and Practice (3 credits)
  • Tax Practice and Procedure (3 credits)
  • Transactional Law Practicum I (3 credits)
  • Transactional Law Practicum II (3 credits)
  • Trial Techniques (3 credits)

The following Simulation Courses have prerequisites or require faculty approval prior to enrollment:

Competitions (1 credit)

Inter-school moot-court team members only.

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of 1L year
  • Selection to be on a Competition team through a competitive application process. Students selected for a moot court team may elect to enroll in the Competitions course for the semester in which the team competes. Contact Professor Smothermon @ csmothermon@ou.edu for application information.

Corporate Drafting (2 credits)

Prerequisite:

  • Corporations or Business Associations

Evidence Lab (2 credits)

Prerequisite:

  • Evidence or concurrent enrollment in Evidence

Human Rights Practicum (3 credits)

Prerequisites:

  • International Human Rights Law strongly encouraged
  • Enrollment by application only. Please send resume and transcript to Professor Evelyn Aswad for consideration. 


Intermediate Legal Writing: Introduction to Drafting (2 credits)

Prerequisite:

  • Completion of Legal Research & Writing I and II

 

Tax Practice and Procedure (3 credits)

Prerequisite:

  • Completion of or concurrent enrollment in Individual Income Tax.

Transactional Law Practicum I (3 credits)

Prerequisite:

  • Corporations or Business Associations

Transactional Law Practicum II (3 credits)

Prerequisite:

  • Corporations, OR
  • Business Associations

Trial Techniques (3 credits)

Prerequisite:

  • Evidence
