The LL.M. in Energy and Natural Resources program enables practicing energy law attorneys to deepen their expertise and serves lawyers looking to transition into energy law. Due to numerous energy and natural resources companies in Oklahoma, OU Law consistently channels many graduates into various energy-related fields and practices annually.

Curriculum & Format

Whether you’re already practicing energy law and seek to broaden your expertise or anticipate future involvement in energy work, the online LL.M. program comprehensively addresses all facets of energy law. From contract law specific to working in energy and natural resources to courses in upstream, midstream, and downstream law, this program will provide legal background to handle complex deals and negotiations.

Enjoy flexibility in assignment completion, encouraging you to engage with faculty and network with classmates through interactive online assignments, making the online experience as engaging as a classroom.

 

Requirements

These are the degree and course requirements essential for success in this program:

  • Attend classes as a full-time or part-time student at the University of Oklahoma College of Law 
  • Complete 24 units of credit over two semesters of study, subject to possible extension for cause 
  • Complete 12 hours of courses in the areas of Energy and Natural Resources Law and approved electives 
  • Take a two-credit class in American Legal Systems 
  • Take a two-credit class on Legal Research, Writing, and Analysis (international students only)
  • Take three courses listed as (Core) courses 
  • File an official application for graduation.
