OU Law Prof. Evelyn Aswad Speaks at Stanford and an International Conference in Costa Rica

October 27, 2016 | By Mackenzie Dilbeck, Director of Communications
Professor Evelyn Aswad recently spoke about a human rights framework that Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Companies can use to protect freedom of expression in their operations during a conference hosted by Stanford University School of Law. In addition, last week she spoke at the annual meeting of the Freedom Online Coalition in San Jose, Costa Rica about a regional online speech code and her concerns about its risks to freedom of expression. The Coalition is a partnership of thirty governments that seek to protect fundamental freedoms online. The annual meeting is attended by diplomats, NGOs, representatives of ICT companies, and others. Her analysis of the issues is forthcoming in the Columbia Human Rights Law Review Online Edition.

“I was grateful for the opportunity to be part of the global conversation on the pressing issue of how to protect human rights online,” said Prof. Aswad.
