About
Professor Backus graduated with honors from OU College of Law in 2008, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Oklahoma Law Review. He served as a term law clerk to the Honorable Joe Heaton, U.S. District Court Judge, Western District of Oklahoma before joining the firm of Dow Lohnes as an associate in their IP and complex commercial litigation groups. Having previously taught Patent Law at the College of Law, Professor Backus rejoined the staff in 2015 as an academic advisor and also taught bar preparation courses. In 2017, he returned to the staff of Judge Heaton where he serves as a career law clerk.
