Headlining the event is Kevin K. Washburn, an OU graduate and professor at the University of California Berkeley School of Law. Professor Washburn is a nationally recognized expert in American Indian and Indigenous Peoples law and was inducted into the Chickasaw Hall of Fame in 2017 for his contributions to Indian law. His presentation, “The Tribal Nations Renaissance (as Viewed Through Recent Supreme Court Decisions),” continues OU Law’s longstanding tradition of bringing influential voices to campus for engaging discussion on the rule of law.
Professor Washburn has previously served as assistant secretary of Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior, dean of the University of New Mexico College of Law and the University of Iowa College of Law, and as chair of the Board of Trustees of the Law School Admission Council.
