About

Ioana A. Cionea joined the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 2015 as an adjunct faculty member. She is also a full time faculty member in the Department of Communication where she teaches courses in argumentation, intercultural and international communication, and quantitative research methods.

Dr. Cionea has worked for many years as a debate coach and international debate trainer. She facilitated the development of curriculum materials and taught debate concepts and argumentation skills to a global audience of students and teachers. This experience prompted her to pursue a master’s and doctorate degree in Communication Studies after earning a Bachelor of Laws degree. Dr. Cionea has been able to blend these early career experiences and the education received in her current position. She also researches how individuals argue in their interpersonal relationships and the effects culture and ethnicity have on this process.
