About

Professor West most recently served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Oklahoma, where was the International Coordinator and also handled various types of criminal cases at all stages—from pre-charge investigation to trial, sentencing, and appeal. Additionally, he served part time as an adjunct professor at OU Law for 3 years.

Before that, he was a Judicial Law Clerk for two judges of the Western District: the Honorable Robin J. Cauthron, and the Honorable Vicki Miles-LaGrange. And before clerking, he was as an Assistant Attorney General in the Litigation Division of the Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General, where he litigated civil cases in both federal and state courts across Oklahoma.

Additionally, Professor West serves as an Executive Board Member and Treasurer of the Oklahoma City Association of Black Lawyers. He is a member of the Holloway Inn of Court and served as a mentor for 1L students at OU Law. He is also a member of the Federal Bar Association and has served as an FBA law student mentor. He was recognized as a NextGen Under 30 Oklahoma award winner in 2019.

While in law school, he served as an editor of the Oklahoma Law Review, won multiple AmJur and moot court awards, and was BLSA President.
