University of Oklahoma College of Law

The College of Law has adopted the following standards to ensure a rigorous program of legal education that prepares our students, upon graduation, for admission to the bar and for effective, ethical, and responsible participation as members of the legal profession.

  1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of substantive and procedural law.
  2. Demonstrate proficiency in legal analysis and reasoning, legal research, problem solving, and written and oral communication in the legal context.
  3. Acquire knowledge of professional and ethical responsibilities to clients and the legal system.
  4. Demonstrate proper professional and ethical responsibilities to clients and the legal system.
  5. Develop other professional skills needed for competent and ethical participation as a member of the legal profession.
  6. Become familiar with the use of technology to support the practice of law.
  7. Demonstrate an awareness of lawyers’ responsibilities to society, including the provision of pro bono services.
