Recruiting Policies
OU law is a member of the National Association of Law Placement (NALP). As such, the law school adheres to the NALP Principles for a Fair and Ethical Recruiting process. Further, OU Law has adopted the following standards regarding the timing of offers and decisions:

  1. All offers to law students should remain open for at least 14 days from the date of the offer.
  2. Students may make a written request for a 7-day offer extension.
  3. Students are expected to accept or release offers by the agreed upon deadline.
  4. Prospective employers are discouraged from formal recruiting contact (applications, interviews or offers) with 1L students prior to December 1. Please note that this does not include mentoring or networking events. Exceptions may be made for government employers requiring an extensive background check.
  5. Employers are encouraged to provide notice to summer interns regarding future internships and/or permanent employment within 30 days of the conclusion of the internship.
