What made you choose OU Law?
I chose OU Law because it offered the perfect combination of quality and value. It’s a well-known university with a strong law program, and I knew I’d be getting a quality education without taking on an overwhelming amount of debt. It really felt like the best of both worlds, great opportunities and a solid reputation at an affordable cost.

Where on campus do you feel most at home, and what makes that space special to you?
Specifically the 3rd floor of the library. I have spent the last 2 years in the same study room, in which I often stuff snacks in the cabinets! Once you find a place and get comfortable in your routine there, doing your work begins to feel like a home away from home instead of a chore.

Describe a moment when you felt especially proud to be an OU Law student.
I was especially proud when I received my first internship offer. It felt like all of the hard work from my first year had paid off, and I knew I wouldn’t have been prepared without the support of OU Law. Career Development helped me polish my resume and practice for interviews, and professors and older students shared advice that made me feel confident going into the process.

Is there a favorite tradition or event that stands out in your OU Law experience?
One of the traditions that stands out most to me is Convocation during orientation week. I remember sitting in the Bell Courtroom, after all the hard work it took to get to law school, and hearing about what lawyers are meant to be for their communities. It was overwhelming in the best way—I could hardly put it into words. I kept thinking, “I’m finally here.” That moment really made it sink in that I was starting this journey.

How have your professors or mentors made a difference in your law school journey?
My professors and mentors ARE my law school journey. When I first toured OU Law, I was paired with Ambassador Maggie East. She made me feel at home even before I was admitted. Now, two years later, I’ve had the privilege of co-authoring an Oklahoma Bar Journal article with her!

What’s one thing you hope never changes about OU Law?
I hope that the welcoming and collaborative community never changes. OU is one of the only law schools I know of that does not have the highly competitive, overly adversarial spirit, but instead makes the school a welcoming place where everyone chooses to help one another out. Whether it be sharing class notes, helping one another with outlining, or group studying, everyone at OU avoids the unnecessary competitiveness and tries to help each other succeed.
