OU Law offers a range of foundational and elective health law courses that equip students with the information and skills necessary for a variety of healthcare law careers.
Foundational courses focus on key health care access, quality, liability, organization, and finance doctrine. Upper-level electives, including Bioethics and the Law, Health Data Confidentiality and Security, and Mental Health Law, offer students the opportunity to focus on current, cutting-edge issues in healthcare law. Students who choose to concentrate their studies in healthcare law will be prepared for a variety of career placement options. These options include large law firms with health law practice groups, boutique health law firms, for-profit and not-for-profit healthcare corporations, long-term care companies, pharmaceutical companies, medical device and equipment companies, orthotics and prosthetics companies, state and local public health departments, state Medicaid agencies, and federal and state enforcement agencies, just to name a few.
